Reinforcement
(Rebar) Corrosion
Challenge: Steel reinforcement is used in concrete structures to allow the structure to bend more than concrete alone. This however creates a problem. When water and soluble salts are absorbed into the concrete they can cause the steel to oxidize and corrode.
Curing
Impact: When steel corrodes it expands. This can cause the surrounding concrete to crack and spall leading to premature failure

Challenge: Concrete requires proper curing to achive long term durability. The reaction that occurs after the mixing phase is exothermic in the form of heat. If this heat is not minimized this can cause cracking.
Challenge: Achieving consistent quality in concrete is difficult due to variations in raw materials (e.g., aggregates, cement) and mixing processes. Small inconsistencies can lead to significant issues in the finished product.
Impact: If curing is done improperly or the concrete dries too quickly, it can result in cracks, lower strength, and reduced long-term durability.
Workability
and Mixing
DryMax has the ability to close the capillaries and pores that allow water into the concrete. Not just on the surface but throughout the entire mix.
SWIPE LEFT FOR DETAILS
Impact: Poor-quality concrete can lead to premature failure of the structure, reduced lifespan, and increased maintenance costs.
Challenge: Achieving the correct mix of ingredients—water, cement, aggregates, and additives—is essential for concrete to perform as expected. If the mix is too dry, it may be difficult to work with, while if it is too wet, it could lead to segregation or weaker concrete.
Waterproof Excellence
Sustainability and Environmental Concerns
Impact: Improper mixing can result in poor workability, defects in finish, or structural failures if the concrete doesn’t achieve the required strength or durability.
The Challenges.
The Impact.
The DryMax Solution.
DryMax creates low absorption concrete mixes that minimize the depth that the water and soluble salts can penetrate. This protects the reinforcement steel and increases the long-term durability of the structure.
Challenge: Concrete production is energy-intensive and generates a significant amount of CO2 emissions, primarily due to the manufacture of cement, a key ingredient in concrete.
Impenetrable Protection
Impact: The environmental footprint of concrete has become a growing concern. There is increasing pressure to find more sustainable materials or practices, such as using supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) or recycling concrete.
In the field, concrete is typically kept moist to help with curing. Drymax does not have this curing constraint. Drymax concrete can be cured in a moist or dry environment.
DryMax increases the strength of the concrete mixture. This allows the mix to be more forgiving in instances where strength thresholds are required.
Weatherproof Curing
Concrete construction is widely used in the building industry due to its durability, strength, and versatility. However, it also presents several challenges that can impact both the construction process and the long-term performance of structures.
Quality & Strength
Cracking
THE MAIN CHALLENGES WITH CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION
DryMax optimizes concrete mix designs by allowing for a reduction in mixing water while maintaining the same workability.
Challenge: All concrete requires water to activate the cement and pozzolans in the mix. After it has hardened water will still try to permeate the concrete. If outside water does get into your concrete it can cause major problems because of alkali-silica reaction (ASR) and/or freeze-thaw.
DryMax is an entirely mineral-based product. Not only is it environmentally friendly, but it also increases the strength of the concrete allowing the concrete to use less cement to obtain the same strength.
Consistent Results
Impact: ASR creates a “gel” inside concrete. If this gel interacts with water it expands causing cracks in the concrete. Likewise if water permeates inside concrete and then freezes it also expands causing cracks.

MEETING THE CHALLENGE
DIN 1048 DEPTH OF WATER PENETRATION TEST RESULTS
A control mixture that did not contain DryMax admixture was produced and a test mixture containing DryMax admixture at 2.5% of weight of cement was also produced.
NOT EVEN CLOSE
*Our advanced DryMax formulation was developed to better meet the US concrete market. The tests were performed with type 1L cement, which seems to be gaining impetus based on market and government demands to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. This new designation of type of cement, created under the ASTM C595 standard for mixed cements, contains more than 5%, but no more than 15%, in mass, finely ground limestone.
